The most shocking findings about “aliens” in 2021

Live Science reviewed some of the most notable studies and discoveries on the hunt for alien life that the world’s astronomers are constantly pursuing.

1. Black holes hide “super” civilizations

The Dyson Sphere , a hypothetical energy collector proposed by scientists more than half a century ago, may have been successfully invented and used by aliens.

A study published in July 2021 in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society warns that astronomers are so focused on finding Earth-like planets that overlook a potential form of life world: black holes.

A black hole can provide 100,000 times more energy than a star like our Sun, which is a source of energy that nearby alien civilizations can collect using a high-tech structure called the Dyson sphere. Therefore, the worlds around the area with black holes need attention.

2. Don’t look for earth-like planets!

The study, published in August 2021 in the Astrophysical Journal, confirms that “Hycean” – oceanic planets 2.5 times larger than Earth and with a hydrogen-rich atmosphere – are extremely suitable for extreme microbial life, like the one we once found underground, under the underground lake in the ice, in the craters… on Earth. Hycean-like planets are much more common than Earth-like planets.

3. Enceladus must have life!

The study, published in June 2021, based on evidence of methane coming out of NASA’s moon Saturn Enceladus, confirmed that the moon’s impressive “tiger stripes” are the area where water ice particles are sprayed into space, carrying a range of organic compounds. That’s where life is hiding in the ocean.

4. Oumuamua is an alien probe?

That’s a claim confirmed through multiple layers of evidence, made gradually over the years and especially in a book published in 2021 by astronomer Avi Loeb from Harvard University (USA). Oumuamua is a cigar-shaped asteroid, which has been shown to be an extrasolar object. Dr Loeb and his colleagues presented evidence that its behavior was highly unusual and they believed it was a disguised technology product from an extrasolar civilization.

5. Thousands of worlds have seen humans evolve?

A study published in the journal Nature in June 2021 found that from stars 300 light-years away, there are at least 1,700 habitable habitable planets. The work, led by Associate Professor Lisa Kaltenegger from Cornell University’s Carl Sagan Institute, says many of these planets may have much higher civilizations than we do, capable of observing Earthlings evolving while our technology is too poor to communicate with them.
